Vertical Playbooks: Healthcare, Legal, Real Estate & More
Industry-specific constraints, buyers, and agent ideas that fit each vertical.
Healthcare
Healthcare agents operate under HIPAA, which means BAAs with every subprocessor, minimal PHI in prompts (de-identify where possible), audit logs for every data access, and human-in-the-loop for any clinical decision. These are not optional nice-to-haves — they are deal requirements.
Buyers are admin ops, billing teams, and patient access departments — not clinicians on day one. Clinicians are conservative adopters; admin staff are measured on throughput and cost. Build agents that reduce admin burden: prior authorization automation, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, medical coding assistance, and patient intake form processing.
Start with workflows that do not touch clinical decision-making. Prior auth and billing are high-volume, high-frustration, and measurable — perfect anchor candidates. Clinical decision support requires FDA consideration and years of validation. Follow the money: admin automation has shorter sales cycles and clearer ROI.
Legal
Legal agents must respect attorney-client privilege, produce citable outputs, and handle jurisdiction-specific rules. A contract review agent that cites 'Section 4.2, page 12' is useful. One that says 'this clause seems problematic' without citation is a liability.
Sell to paralegals, legal ops, and practice managers — not partners on day one. Position as research and draft assist, never as legal advice. 'AI paralegal that prepares first drafts of standard motions' is sellable. 'AI lawyer' is not.
High-value agent workflows in legal: contract review and redlining, case law research, due diligence document analysis, discovery document classification, and standard form generation. Each has clear inputs, verifiable outputs, and buyers who already pay $200-500/hour for manual versions of the same work.
Real estate & field services
Real estate and field services agents win on mobile-first UX, photo/document analysis, and CRM sync. The buyer is on-site with a phone, not at a desk with a laptop. Voice input, photo upload, and instant CRM updates are table stakes.
ROI is easy to quantify: deals closed faster, jobs booked without phone tag, listings processed in hours instead of days. A real estate agent who processes 5 more transactions per year due to automation pays for your product 10x over.
Strong agent ideas: listing description generation from photos, comparative market analysis from MLS data, lease agreement review, maintenance request triage and scheduling, and contractor quote comparison. Sales cycles are fast (days to weeks) with SMB brokerages and property management companies. The market is fragmented, which means less competition from well-funded horizontal players.
